MediCare AI ("we", "our", "the app") is a health information assistant. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.

Data We Collect

When you use MediCare AI, we collect the following:

• Email address: used for account creation and authentication via Firebase Authentication.
• Health-related questions and conversations: the messages you send and the AI responses you receive, stored to maintain conversation history.
• Health profile (V10 digest): a summary of your health conditions, medications, and concerns, automatically generated from your conversations to personalize responses.
• User preferences: settings such as font size and high contrast mode.
• Usage data: anonymized analytics including feature usage and error rates, used to improve the app.

How We Use Your Data

• To provide the service: your questions are sent to an AI model (via OpenRouter) to generate medical guidance. Your health profile is included for personalized responses.
• To search for evidence: your questions may be used as search queries to find current medical evidence from trusted sources.
• To improve your experience: your health profile is updated after conversations so future answers are more relevant to your specific situation.
• To detect emergencies: we analyze responses for emergency medical situations and alert you to call emergency services when necessary.

Third-Party Services

MediCare AI uses the following third-party services to function:

• Firebase Authentication (Google): for secure account management. Firebase Privacy Policy
• OpenRouter: for AI model inference. Your questions are processed by AI models hosted by OpenRouter. OpenRouter Privacy Policy
• Tavily: for real-time medical evidence search. Search queries derived from your questions are sent to Tavily. Tavily Privacy Policy

Data Storage and Security

• Your data is stored in a MongoDB database hosted on a secured server.
• All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption.
• Database access is restricted to the application backend only.
• Firebase authentication tokens are verified on every request.
• We do not store your Firebase password. Authentication is handled entirely by Firebase.

What We Do NOT Do

• We do not sell your personal data or health information.
• We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
• We do not use your health data to serve targeted ads. There are no ads in the app.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Data Retention

Your conversation history and health profile are retained as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), which permanently removes all your data from our servers, including:

• All conversations and messages
• Your health profile
• Your user settings and preferences
• Your Firebase authentication account

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data: your conversations and health profile are visible in the app at all times.
• Correct your data: you can edit your health profile directly in the app.
• Delete your data: you can delete your entire account and all associated data from within the app.
• Export your data: contact us and we will provide your data in a portable format.

Children's Privacy

MediCare AI is not intended for children under 12. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 12. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
